Our client, a major player in the Petrochemical field, is seeking an Instrument Designer within the construction group. Successful candidates will be graduates of a recognized Engineering Technology program or equivalent industry experience with 8+ yrs. experience in the Project and design field.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of engineering packages for construction (scope of work, detailed drawings, cost estimates), with commitment to data integrity.
- Focal point for document control workflow, representing engineering discipline and business unit.
- Interface with engineers, specialists and operations/maintenance personnel for accurate scope definition and ensure that the solution supports safe, reliable, and competitive operations.
- Providing CAD services to develop and maintain engineering documentation for NOVA Manufacturing facilities following facility change management procedures.
- Preparing drawings using NOVA Chemicals supported design and drafting software CAD systems.
- Prepare equipment specifications, drawings, and datasheets.
- Maintain engineering records by updating applicable data bases according to procedures.
- Continuous improvement of engineering information and records management systems

Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of engineering design codes, regulations, and industry standards as applicable to specific discipline.
- Experience in MS Office applications,
- Experience with design and drafting software CAD systems (MicroStation, IN tools)
- Knowledge SmartPlant Foundation would be an asset.
- Experience with engineering project document workflow and document control management systems.
- Good understanding of various types of engineering datasheets, drawings, and documents.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and abilities
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Familiarity and knowledge of petrochemical manufacturing environment would be an asset.
- Computer proficiency is essential.
Requirements
- Graduate of a recognized Engineering Technology program or equivalent industry experience with 8+ yrs. experience in the Project and design field.
- CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) Certification or are otherwise eligible to apply for certification.
- P. Tech or P.Eng accreditation capability will be an asset.
