2 Year Fixed Term Contract for a Junior Contracts Specialist to join a Gold Mine expansion project in Regional NSW!
Brunel are exclusively partnered with a Leading Australian Gold Miner to recruit 2 Contracts Specialists for their Expansion Project in Cowal, NSW. This is a 2 year Fixed Term Contract and an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of Australia’s largest Gold Projects in the last 15 years!
As the Contracts Specialist you will provide Procurement & Contracts support to stakeholders and team members across the project.
- Develop procurement strategies and activity based plans to deliver safe, cost effective and operationally sound commercial outcomes
- Assist end users with the drafting of scopes, offering best practice advice to finalise documents in a timely manner
- Consolidate and develop the complete tender documents suitable for release to market
- Oversee an auditable and transparent tender process offering all participating vendors equal opportunity to be successful
- Support tender evaluation committee members in drafting a formal recommendation for award including completing required online submissions
- Negotiate and draft contracts
- Manage the post contract execution phase of the Procurement and Contracts procedures to ensure compliance to contract by both the contracting partner and the clients Contract Representative.
- Support end users to draft variations and process claims
- Support end users to close out contracts by the issue of Practical and Final certificates
- Build and maintain positive relationships with all Procurement and Contracts team members and stakeholders
- Act in alternative positions within the Procurement and Contracts team when members are unavailable or absent from their roles
- Proficiently use a range of software and applications to carry transactional activities
- Personal fit and able to efficiently carry out duties and demands of the project operating environment, including the regional environment including location, rosters, commuting and remote workplace collaborations.

- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, supported by on site experience in either project or operational environments
- 5 years or more in mining or heavy industry
- 5 years or more in similar project or operational roles
- Demonstrated history of working outside of major metropolitan areas
- Knowledge of end to end Procurement and Contracts best practice
- Ability to understand and draft robust contracts capturing all operations, commercial, legal and HSE requirements
- Contracts performance monitoring, control and variation management.
- An understanding of contracts administration and management
- A general understanding of commercial and contracts law
- Affinity to change activities at short notice and ability to multitask
- High standard of personal work and attention to detail
- Solid written and verbal communication skills with both team members and stakeholders
- Resilience and perseverance to reach desired outcomes
- Ability to understand and maintain procurement governance standards
- Negotiating, Persuading and Influencing
- Robust problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside of the box for solutions
